In May 2022, Dr. William Gay received another accolade to add to his Black Radio Announcer Hall of Fame honors presented in 2021. William is now included among the African American Broadcasters “Radio Legends Of Georgia.”

Terra Gay is Director of Culture and Equity at Charles R. Drew Charter School and Assistant Producer at The King Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She has proven that she is an activist and advocate for children in their cultural, social, and educational growth. On August 3, 2022, Terra will host a virtual discussion about “Gun Violence & Mental Health: Are We Talking to Our Children.”

Dr. William Gay is the husband of Candi Gay and the son of the late George Gay and the late Alice Hemby. He is also a grandson of the late Pa Bob Gay and late Ma Lillie Parker Gay.

Terra Gay, daughter of William and Candi Gay, is the granddaughter of George Gay and Alice Hemby. Terra is also a great granddaughter of Pa Bob Gay and Ma Lillie Parker Gay.

Family, friends, members of CDC, and a host of mothers, deacons, ministers, elders and bishops watched as Bishop-Elect Ronald Gay completed the consecration process on July 8, 2022 and received his confirmation as a bishop in the Unison Free Will Baptist Churches Conference .

The consecration ceremony was held at Salvation and Praise Full Gospel Church in Farmville, NC.

The consecration was carried out by Presiding Bishop and Chief Consecrator Bishop Robert J. Gay, Co-Chief Consecrator Bishop Robert L. Gorham, and Bishop Joe N. Dixon, the homilist. Adjutant Generals Pastor Mary G. Worsley and Pastor Willie Johnson served as co-presiders of the consecration.

Bishop Ronald Gay is the oldest child of Deacon David C. Gay, Sr. and the late Mary Whitehurst Gay. He is the grandson of the late Pa Bob Gay and the late Lillie Parker Gay.

Bishop Ronald Gay is the pastor of Christ Deliverance Community (CDC) Unison Free Will Baptist Church in District Heights, MD.

Aniyah Michelle Dixon is the daughter and oldest child of the late Kia Gay, the granddaughter of Luie Dell Gay, the great grand daughter of Lucille Gay Blow, and the great great granddaughter of Pa Bob Gay and Lillie Parker Gay.

She is a 2022 graduate of JH Rose High School in Greenville, NC.
Aniyah aspires to become an elementary school teacher.

Meyah Barnes is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Marion Barnes,Jr.; the granddaughter of Marion Barnes, Sr. and Edith Gay Barnes; the great granddaughter of Herman L. Gay and Dannie Ruth Dupree Gay; and the great great granddaughter of Pa Bob Gay and Ma Lillie Parker Gay.

Meyah is a 2022 graduate of Spelman College in Atlanta, GA, where she received a B.S. degree in Economics.

Meyah will be working at
Bank of America as an investment banking analyst in emerging growth and regional coverage sector.

Covid 19 cancelled the Gay-Parker Family Reunion for 2020 and 2021. This year the reunion will return.
In 2022, the reunion will be a virtual event held on July 2nd from 1:00 to 3:00.

Members of the Gay Parker Family have been recognized for releasing their first songs and albums. They have also been touted for publishing their first books and preaching their initial sermons. Josh Gay has added a “new first” among accomplishments by members of the Gay Parker family. Josh has just released his first film Two Birds and a Stone: a production in which he was writer, director and cinematographer.

Joshua “Josh” Gay, is the son of Gwendolyn Gay; the grandson of the late Lucille Gay Blow; and the great-grandson of the late Pa Bob Gay and the late Ma Lillie Parker Gay.

Two men in the GayParker Family enjoyed birthday parties for four score (80) and four score & seven (87) years of age. Herman Humorris Gay “Bro” turned 80, and David Clinton Gay, Sr. “Uncle Dave” turned 87.

Here’s your chance to have a few glimpses at both birthday parties through the photographs of Marion Barnes, a stalwart photographer of family and social events for many decades.

Herman “Bro” is the oldest son of Herman Gay and Dannie Ruth Dupree Gay and the oldest living grandson of Pa Bob Gay and Ma Lillie Parker Gay. Herman “Bro” celebrated his 80th birthday in March.

David “Uncle Dave” is the youngest child of Pa Bob Gay and Ma Lillie Parker Gay. Uncle Dave celebrated his 87th birthday in April.

Sisterhood. 

It’s more than just a sibling of the same gender connection. And it’s more than just a club, or a racial affiliation. What then, is sisterhood that pushes this connection between women and among a group of women?

Women in the Gay-Parker family have shared their videos, audio recordings,  written responses, and comments about sisterhood, responding to the following statement:

“Sisterhood has been a powerful force in my life, in my relationships with my sisters, my other relatives, my friends, or my children.”

Mary Alice Gay Worsley, pastor of Emmanuel Community Unison Baptist Church, is the wife of Charles Worsley, the daughter of David Gay and Mary Whitehurst Gay; and the granddaughter of Bob and Lillie Parker Gay.

About sisterhood, Alice Vines, daughter of the late Arie Gay Vines Artis and Freeman Vines, Sr., expressed her view in a  comment about her sister Audrey Vines:

“I chose her. She has done  so much [by]  taking  care  of the family.” A recent article in the Daily Reflector tells you even more about Audrey.

Peggy Gay Wadsworth is the wife of Sam Wadsworth, the daughter of Robert James Gay and Mary Spain Gay and the granddaughter of Bob and Lillie Parker Gay. Peggy described the influences of her three sisters Tut, Pam, and Tijuana.

“My sister, Dorothy (Tut) impacted my life in the areas of serving and having the compassion for the elderly.   

My sister, Pam has impacted my life by her love for God’s people, having a spirit of giving and being a woman of integrity.  She is a good listener and gives constructive feedback.

My sister, Tijuana has impacted my life through her love, dedication and serving the youth.  Her being a prayer warrior, her gift in music, and her having great joy and laughter.”

The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines sisterhood as the relationship between female siblings. But also as solidarity between women based on a community of circumstances, experiences or problems. Typically, sisterhood in relationships is viewed from a lens of being blood relatives. For example, the sisterhood relationship my baby sister, Gwen and I possess from childhood years- still signifies an electric, strong sister-relationship bond. However, sisterhood in a relationship is not limited to being blood relatives. For instance, during my undergraduate years at Elizabeth City State University (ECSU), five females who were not related to each other, Lorene (DST), and Eunice (DST). Christie (AKA), Diane (AKA), and Ida (Zeta) formed a strong bond of a lasting sisterhood relationship
The essence of sisterhood in relationships is a natural phenomenon. An electric internal charge that ignites a bond between individuals of different backgrounds, whether education, ethnicity, cultural, social, faith/religious, and so forth, consequently generating an interconnectedness despite individual differences. The outcomes of such a bond is exemplary of “ties that bind” through life’s experiences of joy, laughter, sadness, loss, hurt, pain, recovery-yet unbroken.

Sisterhood also appears in life experiences. Shemika Gay Davis, wife of Anthony Davis, daughter of Gwendolyn Gay; granddaughter of Lucille Gay Blow; and great granddaughter of Bob Gay and Lillie Parker Gay, recently wrote about this life experiences connection.

In her recent article in the News and Observer, Shemika strongly discusses the connection that she has with the treatment and accusations made against Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson. Read Shemika’s powerful article and see the truths she points out.

Timaury Gay is currently a junior at Notre Dame West Haven High School in Connecticut and a member of the varsity basketball team. His performance on the basketball court in 2021-2022 has earned Tamaury a place on the Connecticut High School Coaches Association (CHSCA) Division I All-State Basketball team.

When he was a sophomore, “The Gibson Way Skills Academy” wrote this  basketball player analysis about Timaury Gay’s basketball prowess:
“Timaury Gay (2023) 6’3” Wing, Notre Dame-West Haven (CT) – Gay can score from anywhere on the floor. Standing about 6’3”, he can finish with the best of them playing above the rim. He is a proficient shooter off the dribble as well as spotting up. Gay is an athletic guard who can rebound the ball very well, and start the break with the abilitiy to dribble coast to coast. On the defensive
end, his length and size can cause havoc. He is a tremendous shot blocker for a guard, aided by his quickness. His IQ on the defensive end is already above average for only being a sophomore in high school. Gay is a talent that can be an enforcer on a nightly basis. His experience is only going to grow, bringing his game to an elite level, which is something to be excited about.”

Faith & Harmony is a gospel singing group formed from six granddaughters of Johnny Ray Daniels and Dorothy Vines Daniels. They are the great granddaughters of Freeman Vines, Sr. and Arie Gay Vines Artis, and the great-great granddaughters of Pa Bob Gay and Ma Lillie Parker Gay.

Kadesha Speight, Renee Sugg, Keamber Daniels, Andrea Edwards, Christy Moody, and Tinesha Weaver comprise Faith & Harmony and are the daughters of Anthony Daniels and Johnnie Mae Daniels Edwards. Anthony “Amp” and Johnnie Mae are the children of Johnny Ray Daniels and Dorothy Vines Daniels. Faith & Harmony will be making its mark in gospel music following in the footsteps of their grandmother Dorothy Vines Daniels and great-aunts Alice Vines, Mattie Vines Harper,  and Audrey Vines, the Glorifying Vines Sisters.
