Is there any relations to the Gays of Northport, AL. Tellie Gay, Sr. in Northport, AL had 12 sons and daughters.

Hi,
I don’t know of any. Most of the family who did any migration went to NY, CT, DC, & VA.
I can only go as far back as Richard Gay(paternal) who appears in the 1870 census and Jacob Gay(maternal) who also appears in 1870. Both were over 35 years of age and on different farms in Pitt County.
And unfortunately, NC Slave Schedules of 1860 only revealed the gender and age of slaves in the census.
